Although it came out this summer in most theaters, it didn't arrive in Laramie until November 22. You guessed it, when the video was released. It's a shame. I wished I'd have seen this on the big screen instead of the tube.
"The Arrival" is a science fiction thriller about a scientist Zane Ziminski (Charlie Sheen) who intercepts a message by aliens and tries to go public with it, but there's a government conspiracy to cover it up.
It turns out the aliens have already landed and have taken over key government positions. They are already in the process of taking over the earth. Ziminski is in a deadly race to try to expose the plot before they can kill him.
The film is loaded with suspense and action. Sheen does a fine job as the hero, Teri Polo does a good job as Char, Ziminski's girlfriend and Ron Silver is effective as the slimy Phil Gordian. Director David N. Twohy (who also wrote the screenplay) does a fine job maintaining suspense throughout the film.
Although "Independence Day" was a good film. "The Arrival" is the best science fiction film of the year, so far. Too bad it didn't get the same play or the same advertising buildup. Life isn't fair. This film rates a B+.
