October 3, 1990 -- ``Ghost'' is an old-fashioned movie about romance. The story is simple, but solid, aided by fine performances all around. Production values such as cinematography and special effects are not as high as might be expected in a film this popular. The script, however, is quite good.
This movie has resurrected the flagging careers of Whoopi Goldberg and Patrick Swayze, both of whom have been in some very poor movies since Whoopi starred in ``The Color Purple'' and Swayze had his big hit in ``Dirty Dancing.'' Demi Moore also gives a fine performance as the wife of Swayze.
The movie also features a fine soundtrack, making good use of the classic pop hit ``Unchained Melody'' by the Righteous Brothers. Mostly, however, it is the chemistry between Swayze and Moore and their powerful adult-level romance that powers this film from beginning to end.
On a scale of one to 10, it rates a seven.
