Biographical  Information:

Grant C. Showacre (D): My family and I moved to Laramie from Colorado Springs 15 years ago. The national corporation I worked for had an opening in Laramie and I jumped at the opportunity. Two of my children graduated from LHS and my youngest daughter is at UW majoring in mechanical engineering. My wife, Marian, is the local Allstate Agent. We are the proud grandparents of four grandchildren, two boys and two girls. We like going to the mountains, golfing, and especially spending time with our grandchildren. This summer Jacob, our five year old, caught his first fish at Huck Finn pond in Laramie.

What change in Wyoming statutes would be necessary for your office to be able to disclose property sale prices as is done in neighboring states? Would you favor that change?

Grant C. Showacre (D): A Statement of Consideration form is filed with the County Clerk. This form discloses property sales prices. Wyoming State Statute 34 -1-142.(e) states that this document is not a public record and shall be held confidential. Changing this area would allow the sales prices to be public record, allowing a more open discussion to the taxpayer. This would also help people buying and selling homes to do research on values and sales history.

Do you want to make any changes in this office? Elaborate.

Grant C. Showacre (D):  I am going to continue to find ways to improve our office and how it serves the community. We are working on finding ways to have our data more accessible to the public. Property information is now available on our website. We are looking to bring more complete information to the site.  I will work with other departments finding ways to improve our service.
